Infections with atypical mycobacteria in patients with cancer

Within the registry of infections in cancer patients, we have detected a relevant number of cancer patients with atypical mycobacteria. This infection is well described in HIV/AIDS, but little is known about the setting of malignant disease. We are currently collecting data on this infections in patients with immune dysfunction due to neoplasia. This project is conducted in collaboration with colleagues from other university hospitals including Halle, Magdeburg and Bonn.
