Sample material and transport

For genetic analyses: Sequence analyses and copy variants

1×8 ml EDTA blood sample labelled with patient’s name and date of birth. Record when the sample was taken. Please also indicate the name of physician, hospital, telephone, as well as fax number and email.
In case of young patients, less blood (1 ml) can also be sent.

For protein analyses (Factor H, CFHR1 and CFHR) and autoantibody determination

1×1 ml EDTA blood or serum labelled with name and date of birth. Record when the sample was taken. Please also indicate the name of physician, hospital, telephone, as well as fax number and email.
In case of young patients, less blood (1 ml) can also be sent.

Please store specimen until transport at 4°C (refrigerator).  Do not freeze!

Samples can be sent at ambient temperature, overnight carrier is preferred. If shipping samples from outside Germany please send by courier and send specimen and samples on Monday or Tuesday, this allows the sample to arrive in time. Keeping samples in post offices or customs over weekends is not at all beneficial for the sample and ultimately neither for the results.

Please include further details about risk exposure (HIV, Hepatitis)!
