Interaction of MAIT cells with moulds

Activation of human MAIT cells by A. fumigatus.

Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are innate-like T cells with a specific invariant T cell receptor (TCRVa7.2) which recognizes riboflavin-metabolites presented by MR1 on antigen-presenting cells. The activity against bacteria, yeasts and viruses has already been shown. Our group looks at the interaction of MAIT cells with mould species. These projects include Aspergillus spp. as well as Mucorales and investigate MAIT cells from healthy donors as well as patients.
