Macrophages (Mphs) exhibit high heterogeneity and plasticity, which is essential for their multifaceted roles in host defense and tissue regeneration. Mast cells (MCs) respond rapidly to injury or infection by releasing intact secretory granules, thereby initiating and potentiating innate and adaptive immunity.
