Integrated Substance Management System for Accelerated Discovery of Antiinfectives

Rising antibiotic resistance is making previously easily treatable infections increasingly life-threatening. ISMEA, a state-of-the-art, automated substance management system, is designed to speed up our search for urgently needed new anti-infectives and optimize the quality of the data collected.
ISMEA (Integrated Substance Management System for Accelerated Discovery of Antiinfectives) is used to manage and provide substances for high-throughput screening on our JenXplor robotic platform. The special feature of ISMEA is its complete automation, which enables error-free, efficient and standardized handling of substances.
The new system allows tens of thousands of substances to be systematically stored, identified and prepared for automated experiments. Barcode-supported recording means that the substances can be tracked seamlessly, while a robot-controlled storage system manages and provides the samples. This allows high-throughput tests to be carried out and analyzed using machine learning to predict new active ingredients. Sources of error are reduced, efficiency is increased and a larger number of potential active ingredients can be tested in less time.
With ISMEA, we are pursuing a mission:
- Discovering new active compounds against multi-resistant germs - through automated high-throughput screening of natural products and synthetic molecules
- Automate substance management for faster, more efficient and more precise research
- Providing data for machine learning to predict new drug candidates using artificial intelligence
