MicroBank

MicroBank, Source: Leibniz-HKI

Microbial natural products are an important source for novel active compounds. Together with Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the Leibniz-HKI operates the Jena Microbial Resource Collection (JMRC), where microorganisms have been collected over decades and are safely cryopreserved. MicroBank serves to fundamentally modernize cryopreservation at the Leibniz-HKI. Uniform, energy-efficient nitrogen tanks and automated monitoring ensure that long-term storage is resource-efficient and meets higher safety standards.

The project, funded by the Free State of Thuringia, is co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
