“Chips for your health” stand

On 22 November 2019, the Leibniz-HKI opened its doors to the Long Night of Science and let interested visitors take a plunge into the exciting world of microorganisms. At the MPM stand, the guests learned why microbes are often harmless or even helpful, but sometimes can also cause dangerous diseases. But how can something so complex be simplified? The visitors saw different approaches developed in our laboratory to study Candida gut infection and its interaction with microbiota. Our helium balloon gut model was a particularly vivid illustration of this.

Many thanks to all participants and volunteers!
