This publication is the first detailed study of C. albicans translocation across the intestinal epithelial barrier. It is shown that fungal translocation is associated with hyphae formation and necrotic epithelial damage, depending on the recently identified peptide toxin Candidalysin.

Congratulations, Steffi & Toni!
