The Priority Programme 2225 “Exit strategies of intracellular pathogens - EXIT” investigates the strateigeis used by intracellular pathogens to exit host cells. Host cell exit plays an important role in pathogenicity, however, the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. The SPP EXIT studies these processes in various bacterial, parasitic and fungal pathogens. Its aim is to better understand infection processes and explore targets for future therapies. The Leibniz-HKI participates with a project on the exit of Candida albicans and Candida glabrata from macrophages.

The SPP EXIT is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
