Diversity of fungi and bacteria

Interactions between multiple organisms represent one of the major driving forces for the diversification of microorganisms. The JMRC maintains 35,000 bacterial and 15,000 fungal isolates as representatives for the prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbial world in order to establish a diversity collection for biodiversity assessments. Diversity studies target several habitats using metagenomic approaches in collaboration with the department Cell- and Molecular Biology
