InfectoGnostics co-operative project
Pneumonia is often fatal in immune compromised patients as todays methods for diagnosis are insufficient and protracted. Thus, the aim of the joint research project InfectoGnostics is to develop fast and reliable methods to identify pathogens and resistances of pneumonia. The main task of our group (IHO) is to recruit a large cohort of
1) Healthy control subjects
2) Patients with pneumonia
2) Immune compromised patient, from which approximately 25% will suffer from pneumonia.
Clinical, microbial and immunological data will be obtained from all patients. Leukocyte subpopulations will be especially analysed with flow cytometry regarding activating and inhibitory characteristics.
