Healthy habits mean healthy eyes

Conatc lenses can be a source of eye infections - especially if they are not used properly or if the hygenic conditions are insufficient. Fungal keratitis is a particularly serious infection in which mold fungi attack the cornea. German and American scientists are investigating the basis of this disease and looking for novel therapeutic strategies. The physicians at the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have organized Contact Lens Health Week as a strategy to increase public awareness and promote healthy contact lens wear and care. The German National Reference Center for Invasive Fungal Infections (NRZMyK) is supporting this campaign.
