Christin Reimer has received the award for the Best Master Thesis 2016 of the Faculty of Environmental and Natural Science of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus - Senftenberg. For her Master thesis, Christin went to California to study resistance mechanisms of Plasmodium falciparum against the novel antimalarial class of imidazolopiperazines at the University of San Diego. Her work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Jan-Heiner Küpper (BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg) and Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Winzeler (University of California, San Diego (USA)). Congratulations Christin!
The complex interactions between pathogens and their host still fascinate Christin after coming back to Germany. Therefore, she decided to join the Junior Reserach Group of Falk Hillmann at the HKI. As a doctoral researcher, she will now elucidate the mechanisms at work during the interactions between amoeba and pathogenic fungi and bacteria for her PhD thesis.
